Which military branch does the president have direct control over?

Is it the marines? or the army?Which military branch does the president have direct control over?
All of them.Which military branch does the president have direct control over?
I don't know where JP S pulled that odd ';fact'; from; the Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy, and is therefore even further down the command chain, technically speaking. The President is Commander-in-Chief for all branches of the military, meaning the Department of the Army, Department of the Navy, and Department of the Air Force--all of which are in the Department of Defense. All military commanders fall under the Chairman of their branch (usually a four-star general or admiral, depending on the branch), who in turn answers to the Secretary of that branch. Those Secretaries answer to the Secretary of Defense, and that person answers to the President.

The Coast Guard is a little different; they're part of the Department of Homeland Security (they were formerly part of the Department of Transportation, actually); but they, too, ultimately answer to the President through a similar chain of command through the DHS.
He's the commander in chief, man! He runs the show. The president has final authority over all branches of the military. Legally, he can walk out onto a battlefield and start giving orders. This has happened only a couple of times in history, because the president usually has less strategic experience than the leaders of the respective armed forces, but its still technically possible. Lincoln did this during the civil war when he didn't think his generals were doing a good enough job.
All of them.

Read the US Constitution, the military falls under the Executive branch.

He is the top rung in the ladder. Commander in Chief.
He is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces which refers to ALL of the military. Not just one branch.
ALL OF THEM. The President is the commander in chief of the Armed Forces. I took an oath to follow orders of my superiors, all the way up the line to the President of the US.
All of them. He's the Commander in Chief of the Military, period.
He is the Commander and Chief which places him over all branches
All of them.
Um.. them all.
The president has control over all the branches but the marines are the ones who get their orders Directly from the President. All other orders for AF, Army, and Navy must go through congress
Unfortunately, we all must call this draft-dodging veteran of the Texas Air National Guard ';Commander in Chief.';
