Cannot find universal remote to control Direct TV and new Sylvania flat screen TV.?

Direct TV and Time Warner cable (along with others) don't have the newer codes programed in them for many of the new products that have come out in about the last 21/2 to 3 years. RCA has a much better list of codes in some of their newer universals, but products are coming to market with more bells and whistles (more codes) faster than the remote OEMs can quay the codes. My new Philips VCR/DVD player/recorder has the same problem.
